Keep your kitchen fresh with Electrolux cooker hoods

Cooker hoods are essential for maintaining a clean, comfortable kitchen. They remove cooking odours, smoke, and airborne grease, helping to protect your cabinetry and walls from stains and build-up. Whether you cook daily or occasionally, the right cooker hood makes all the difference in kitchen hygiene and air quality.

When selecting your cooker hood, consider the hood type, your kitchen layout, and the features that align.

Types of cooker hoods

Electrolux offers three main cooker hood styles to suit different kitchen setups:

  • Chimney hoods: These wall-mounted hoods are designed to stand out, making them ideal for open or modern kitchens. They provide powerful extraction and a bold, stylish finish.
  • Integrated hood: Fitted under cabinetry, they are a great option for compact kitchens. They deliver effective ventilation with a minimalist, integrated look.
  • Pull-out hoods: These slide out when in use and tuck away when not needed, combining strong performance with discreet design—perfect for smaller spaces or those seeking a clean aesthetic.

Additionally, unique designs such as slope cooker hoods and curved glass range hoods enhance your kitchen's aesthetic appeal.

Ducted vs recirculating ventilation

You’ll also need to decide between two types of ventilation:

  • Ducted hoods: Extract air outdoors and typically use washable metal filters. They offer high performance and are ideal when ductwork is accessible.
  • Recirculating hoods: Use carbon filters to clean air before releasing it back into the kitchen. These are ideal for apartments or spaces where external ducting isn’t possible.

Cooker hoods FAQs

How often should I clean or replace the filters?

Metal filters in ducted hoods should be cleaned regularly—usually every few weeks. Carbon filters in recirculating hoods should be replaced every 3 to 6 months, depending on usage.

What should I look for when choosing a cooker hood?

Prioritise models with strong suction, efficient filters, low noise levels and a design that complements your kitchen's size and decor.

What size cooker hood do I need for my hob?

Your cooker hood should be at least the same width as your hob—commonly 60cm, or 90cm—to ensure effective odour and vapour extraction.

How far should you install a range hood from the cooktop?

To ensure efficiency and safety, your range hood should be installed at a specific distance from the stoves and hobs surface. Specifically:

  • For induction and ceramic hobs: The ideal distance is 650mm.
  • For gas hobs: The recommended distance is 750mm.

When installing, you need to make sure this distance ranges between 650mm and 750mm. You should absolutely not install the range hood at a distance less than 650mm from the cooktop.
